Process
The process for preparing our aged copper sheets begins with cutting and fabrication before the parts move on to the patina studio. To achieve the desired look in a short time frame, we use chemical mixes rather than relying on the natural aging process of up to 10 years that copper typically takes to produce the verdigris look.
While blue copper is not found in nature, aged and antique copper can occur naturally with cycles of damp and dry to create the browns.
Post-patina treatment varies depending on the type of copper. Green and blue copper require lacquering to seal the surface for decorative purposes and must be cared for accordingly. Aged and antique copper sheets, on the other hand, are typically waxed to seal the surface and moderate the rate of further patina. Alternatively, they can also be lacquered.
Aside from aged copper sheet we also do aged brass sheet, aged zinc sheet, aged pewter sheet and aged bronze sheet.
