General Information
The most popular grade of pewter sheet metal and mainly used in the UK is Pewter 92. (Alternative grade Pewter 93 to order only), The composition of Pewter 92 is 92% Tin (Sn), 6% Antimony (Sb), 2% Copper (Cu). It is mainly used for bar tops, table tops, hand crafting and spinning.
We use mainly 1.5mm for fabrication of bar tops and table tops, thicknesses available range from 0.4mm to 10mm. Our Round Table Tops are spun with 1.5mm pewter. We have 2 spinning lathes which can be used for spinning table tops. Pewter Tops can be from 300mm diameter to 900mm diameter. The process consists of cutting the core material, usually MR MDF or Birch Ply on our CNC routing machine and then bonding it the a pre-cut pewter sheet metal circle. This assembly is then attached to the spinning lathe and the edge is spun over the timber by a skilled lathe operator using special tools. Edges can be either square or bull nosed.
